This year we are competing with our fifth consecutive car, the CRR12. The team consists of 36 students divided into seven sub-groups, each responsible for their own area of the car. For the fourth consecutive year, Clear River Racing is once again representing Karlstad University during this annual Formula Student showdown at the Silverstone Circuit. This year, the team consists of 38 students from various engineering programmes, and our aim still remains intact: to build a reliable, high-end racing car ready to reach the top.

Formula Student is a global engineering competition. The challenge is to develop and build a small open wheel race car in a single school year. There are over 600 universities represented in the three vehicle classes: combustion, electric, and driverless. The purpose of the competition is to give students practical experience with working in large engineering projects, preparing them for post-university work. Formula Student is the largest engineering competition in the world with the aim of creating better engineers by giving the students hands-on experience. Every competing team designs, manufactures and tests a vehicle with which they then compete against other teams in several different events – all of this takes place during less than one year.

Här kan du känna dig hemma. Företagen i Karlstad är väldigt måna om studenterna och ställer alltid upp för att komma och hålla i föreläsningar, delta i mässor och andra events på universitetet. Detta gör att man som student enkelt får goda kontakter som man kan använda sig av både under och efter sina studier. Det var den 3 juni som formula student-teamet bjöd in till Studiehallen i M-huset på campus Johanneberg. Ett hundratal nyfikna kom för att bevittna avtäckningen av årets tävlingsbil. – Vi i teamet var mycket glada att välkomna över 100 personer till vårt event, tack alla som kom!
